ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has provided an important update regarding the launch of Starlink, the satellite internet service by Elon Musk, in Pakistan.
During a briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT, chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, PTA Chairman revealed that Starlink applied for a license on February 24, 2022, and is in ongoing discussions with the new regulatory body.
Before Starlink can roll out its satellite services in Pakistan, it must first register with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Space Agency (PSB). The PTA Chairman confirmed that once the registration process is completed, further proceedings will be initiated.
