is there anyway i can extend the user-year of birth when they register
currently on mine it is showing as minimum of 1994 i need to make lower
and unsure how?

Select Admin/Users/Profile Questions/Edit Birthday Question & Edit the Year Range

Lexoma, what do you mean by "unable to edit". What happens when you are editing Year Range in admin panel? Is the field editable for you?
Or you make changes in admin panel but they don't get applies on the front end of your site?

Can not edit the month tho? Steps above work tho.
Admin area (pannel)
click users
click profile questions
in the basic column on the birthday question. A edit button should pop up.
Hit enter and should be able to edit the year.
But not the month.
