Welcome to the Kestrel Meters Ballistic Support Thread. This is the official world-wide support center for Kestrel users, hosted right here on the Hide. Look for product news, Link app and Kestrel firmware version updates, PC program information and ballistic support.

Let me get this started. First off, thanks for hosting this here! I recently bought a 4500 via the PX and it’s been a great addition. That said, it seems like I’m constantly struggling with magnetized Lithium AAA cells and not being able to calibrate the compass until batteries are replaced. I’ve tried rotating the batteries and swiping their position. Nothing other than battery replacement seems to help and replacing batteries each range trip is getting old. Is there something I’m missing?

As far as I know, the Kestrel can't automatically adjust to your new environment based on a different location's elevation. It can store your presets and adjust based on new environmental data, but for precise shooting, it's best to measure your MV at the new location. As for ELR shooting, it's a whole other ball game, and the Kestrel's small specifics might not make a huge difference at typical hunting ranges. It's always good to have the bells and whistles, but for most non-ELR distances, they might not be practically noticeable.Regarding the KestrelMet 6000 Cellular Weather Station, I'm actually thinking of getting one myself. Any feedback on this one?
