Advice on garage setup - floor vs ceiling (pics inside) | Forum

I have been going back and forth for weeks about what to do with a projector setup.  I keep leaning toward a floor mount, but every time I read forums online, it is unanimous that ceiling mount is better.  My dilemma is that I don’t know if a ceiling mount is doable.

Critical info:

  • Room dimension: 10’ wide, 20’ long, 10’+ height
  • Enclosure is an 8’x8’ enclosure with a screen that is 7’7”x7’7”
  • Screen to hitting mat is around 9’
  • I need to hit offset due to the 10’ wide width
  • The garage door opener is in the way unless I have a novel mounting solution.  Also, the entrance to attic results in two different ceiling heights in that area.  The area where the garage door open is located is between the hitting mat and the enclosure.

Option 1:  floor mount with a ST projector.  The floor mount will not be between the ball and screen due to hitting offset.  Since I’m hitting 9’ away from the screen, my guess is that the projector would be around 3’ in front of the hitting mat.

Option 2:  ceiling mount with a ST projector, and mount it right behind the garage door opener.  This would be around 4-6 feet away from the impact screen.  I’m not sure if I can find a novel mount solution for this option.  I have never come close to hitting the garage door opener, so I think this would be well out of the way.

Option 3:  I know that one option would be going with a wall mounted garage opener.  But I’m not considering that as a current option.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your garage setup is looking nice! If it were me, I'd lean towards using ceiling storage because it frees up floor space and keeps things more organized. It's super handy for stuff you don't need every day, like holiday decorations or camping gear. But if you've got tools or bikes you use a lot, having them on the walls might be more convenient. You could even mix it up and do a bit of both! There are lots of cool DIY ideas out there that could help you customize it to fit your needs perfectly. And if you need any help, you might want to check out garage door repair near me —they often have good tips for garage organization too!
