Free open source (FOS) software survives on donation and work by volunteers. It forms a community comprising own developers, third party developers and users. If donations are not forthcoming sufficiently, this can adversely affect the development of FOS. I'm suggesting that users and third party developers share the  development cost of FOS. Do you buy this idea?

I agree with your idea of sharing the costs of developing open source software (FOS). Indeed, resources are needed to support the stable development of such projects. When funds from donations are insufficient, this can negatively affect progress. I propose to approach funding in the same way that https://clevercontrol.com/ supports collective development in the work environment: voluntary participation of users and third-party developers in funding FOS can be a useful step towards their joint success and improvement of software products.
