Newsfeed: - Performance improvement: old unused items removal + content caching

This is one of the features listed in the 1.5.0 update..... can someone tell me more about how it works?

Does it do it manually, how does it remove it etc

Thats a good question, nothing in admin plugin settings to purge anything which is what i think they are talking about, or should be i hope :)   The closest thing i have found is in main/customize this page/edit newsfeed  and it lets you show only a certain number of feeds.

Lets hope that they actually have something better than that lol... I guess if you wanted to you could always just go to the phpMyAdmin and do a sql to purge the old ones by > certain date

I believe it deletes old posts after so long if no one comments on the post and so on but don't quote me on that

Just curious as they don't say much about anything

Abbey, newsfeed item is considered as "expired" if  it has been inactive ( no comments, no likes) for 3 months.

Cron checks whether 3 months have passed once a week and if it finds expired items it deletes them automatically.
