I run 1.5.1 with the latest group plugin. I have found that in the invite_widget.php file there is a count of 100 that needed adjusting to cater for user's with more than 100 friends.

This also works for 1.6.
I noticed that this occurred on my end as well. Apparently the creator of the group is unable to invite specific people if overall users exceeds 100.
I ended up changing mine from 100 to 500 and it's working as it should again. Great spot/find Shane!
