Is there a way to automatically log out users that have no activity after a specified amount of time? My users are leaving the site without logging out and I can't who is active or not. I looked for a plugin but I don't think anyone has thought to develop one or is it possible to?

The reason is that your cron might not be configured properly as the cron jobs are responsible for that. If user signs out cron automatically delete this user from the database in the table online_users, if not then cron deletes this user in a half an hour. Please check your cron configuration and settings.
