I'm wanting to develop a plugin (my third), that would mask some fields of a users profile unless the user is in a certain role.

For example, when users join they're in the 'unverified' group. I would like to develop a plugin that would mask certain contact fields on users pages unless they're verified and moved into the correct role.

I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a pointer on where to start? Without proper documentation it is difficult to do, and this is nothing like the previous (smaller) plugins I have developed.
