Or you can simply go to Admin Area > Settings > User Settings >> the Content Input tab and check the Disable rich media box in the Content comments section.
This doesn't remove it from the newsfeed status update. It would be splendid if it did, otherwise we wouldn't need all these discussions.

Sorry for misleading. I believed that this configuration should remove these buttons from the Newsfeed too. I will report this problem to our technicians.
