so im pretty happy with oxwall and this community, I've gotten a lot of help with my project.
my newest thing is striving to embed videos from my clipshare installation into my oxwall installation. it works fine, but there is no thumbnail. it says if you have a little PHP experience, it is easy. sadly, I have none. is there any walkthrough anywhere that I can use to allow this?

All I know is that only certain video sites will take the thumbnail with the embed code.    At least it works, thumbnails are overrated!  :o)

I was kidding about the overrated bit.

What you could do is to change the default video image to something that is more styled to your theme with maybe "no thumbnail included" across it.

Where are you hosting the clipshare clips?  Are they on your webserver?
The video plugin is for the viewing of online videos hosted elsewhere.  I don't think there is currently a way of easily uploading a video to the site for it to be viewed.

The simplest solution would be to upload the files to youtube then use their embed code.

You could try and research http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1732196/java-script-ajax-video-player-not-work-in-php-file   but it means having to create a html code for each video.  Not really easy.

I think users have been asking for a video upload ability but I am not aware of the progress (if any) on this...

Youtube is the quickest answer.

thanks man. I've been using youtube, but they are too fickle with taking stuff down, banning accounts etc. I have a clipshare on my webserver in a different directory.  I'll look over your link and keep researching

What you are looking for is needed.  The video section in Oxwall needs a section that if the vid isnt embedded somewhere else then the user can upload.

Then a player will need to be embedded in Oxwall to allow that to be seen.

The dangers with this are that users can upload large videos.  Your storage can be eaten into,  your bandwidth will go through the roof, it will be harder to police.

If it is only admin adding this video content then you are always aware of the content, size and usage.

You may be able to convert the video to flash then using custom html insert it into a post.   Similar to the java option i posted above.   These are all workarounds,  you really need a section to upload vid to oxwall and the site to play it.  That may take a while to get sorted.

Instead of using youtube, consider looking into UStream.com as well.  They may be better.

Adding native video upload is planned, but there are a lot of tasks with higher priority in our roadmap.
The only workaround for now is to upload your videos to video hosting resources and use embed codes

Each video, created by a team of talented experts in their field, is the result of painstaking work and professionalism. For such a video, it is best to contact 2d animation outsourcing companies. What can you advise?

Embedding Clipshare videos on forums can enhance user engagement by providing dynamic content that captures attention. When you incorporate videos into your forum discussions, it allows for more interactive communication, making it easier to convey complex ideas or showcase products. For instance, if you’re discussing roofing solutions, you might refer to useful resources like https://www.greensbororoofrepair.com for additional insights. This approach not only enriches the conversation but also encourages participants to explore further, creating a more vibrant community
