I don't want to screw up my site. Can I update plug-in by plug-in, or does the whole system need to be re-installed? Not sure how to proceed.

Thanks

well i am a coward and will be using skalfa to update my site it costs 50 us dollars but looking at the posts on this forum it will be money well spent, just waiting for 3 more plugins to be updated in the store and the confirmation the cpu issues with mailbox is sorted then i will update my site :) so if you are unsure pay skalfa to do it :)

To tell you the truth bobbi some of these things should not be happening with this oxwall script ,the length of time oxwall have been working on this script .I thought this update 1.7 was ok ,but after the amount of posts ,with people having so many problems . I am beginning to think is it worth carrying on with oxwall ,all it needs is one bad update and your site is gone ,and all the many months of hard work .Its going to be a nightmare when every up date comes out with oxwall ,thinking is it going to destroy my site .

You did not offend me bobbi ,I was just saying because some people would take your post the wrong way and refuse to help you ,and you need all the help you can using oxwall   lol

exactly pete this is why i am paying skalfa to do it, it is their job to get it right or restore back to 1.6 if it goes wrong, that is what i meant by money well spent it is peace of mind for me, if i try and do it and it goes wrong i wouldnt have a clue how to put it right and knowing my luck it would go horribly wrong

Dominick  the best way of updating is to get on your hands and knees and pray it does not mess your site up  .lol

The best way of updating is to deactivate all your plugins and switch to default theme until after update ,then update your theme ,and then each plugin .

And make sure you back up your DB before you start ,make at least 2 copies of your DB to be on the safe side .And I would advice you once you have updated to make a backup of your DB every couple of days .Also before you start down load a copy of your config file ,and also download all your members images as in profile .just in case you mess your site up and cant fix it and you have to do a reinstall and  need to add a copy of your back up DB
