Messages Plugin for 1.7 | Forum

What I have discovered with the new messages plugin:

If you have mass messaged your members in the past, with the old messaging system, your messages would have gone out to the members, but unless your members replied, your messages only showed up in each member's mailbox but not your own.

With this new messages plugin, all those mass messages you sent out in the past now show up in your inbox as a "conversation". So you now have hundreds, even thousands of "conversations" in your inbox, thus loading down your inbox.

If you just let it load (it will take a long time), they should eventually show up. And unfortunately, this new messaging plugin does not have a bulk delete feature, so you now have to delete those thousands of messages one by one. This will take weeks, if not months to do. Because after you have deleted one, it will take up to or over 1 minute for the next message to load, so that you can delete it.

I ask the developers to PLEASE update this plugin to be able to bulk delete messages!

Just a question: is it possible to upgrade to oxwall 1.7 and upgrade all plugins to 1.7 EXCEPT the MESSAGES and INSTANT CHAT plugin? That would avoid the problem of the new messages, but before trying, I'd like to know from the dev team is the old messages plugin is still supported in oxwall 1.7

Martin, we support only latest platform version along with the latest plugin builds. So we can not guarantee that old Mailbox/Chat plugins will work on 1.7 core properly. Try checking this on a testing environment, before doing so on your real site.

ok, I understand. I better stick with my working 1.6 until all the problems with messages/instant chat under 1.7 are sorted out...

I highly recommend you wait. How long? Who knows? Oxwall apparently doesn't see this as a big problem. But as you can see on other topics about the messages plugin, many sites are greatly suffering if not totally down because of this, and it's been nearly a month and nothing from Oxwall.

This is the down side of free. If you want something done right, and timely, you have to pay.

Hard to believe Oxwall even let that MESSages program out of the bag in the first place. It is the worst piece of amateur crap of a plugin I have ever seen. How they thought this was an improvement, or even equivalent to the previous mailbox is beyond me. It's mind boggling.

And still today, no fix, no update, NOT EVEN A WORD from Oxwall on this.

How very irresponsible, ignorant, and sad.

Next time I'll go with PROFESSIONALS. It's worth the money.

Jobee, I have replied to you here http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/23004 .

In terms of timing, new core update is going to be released soon. We are hitting internal testing phase of the new build next week. Date of the release depends on how testing goes ( takes about 2 weeks), therefore I will be able to provide more information only when testing is over. There also will be public beta testing for developers as well. If you have plugins/themes in our Store, you will be informed about beta testing once it starts.

Regarding response from out team, we are doing our best to reply on support forum within 3 days. If me or Ross ha somehow missed any of your topics, just drop us a line and one of us will get back to you.

We appreciate all the feedback we receive from your guys and your patience. Once again, thank you for waiting. And I will keep you posted here on how testing of the new update goes.
