Would this work for mobile | Forum

I was thinking about copying all my site and moving it to a subdomain mobile and changing all links and setting in config etc, exept my DB setting, and shrinking my site to half the size so it can be viewed on mobile  ,as i well be using the same db  and just changing the links to reflect the subdomain on the mobile sub .It should not effect my main site.Has anybody done this ? The only problem i can see is you would have to do the changes on your mobile site by editing the php code to resize your site, and to find away to stop the main admin on your main site from resizing your mobile site ,you would also have to edit the php code to point to your admin on your main website . Any advice would be most welcome. To get around admin i was also thinking about having two admins in same DB,the one for mobile calling it admin2,

Well there is only one way to find out I well build a test site ,and put two admin in the db,admin two well have all the same settings apart from mobile links to reflect mobile, as in main  admin so it should work side by side, the only dif well be that I am going to shrink my website so it well work on any mobile on mobile site .So I cant see any big problem,Infact having 2 admins one for main and one for mobile would be much better and cause less errors

In theory this sounds easy to implement ,but its going to be a pain in the arse to do.but the fact of the matter is if this could be done ,your site would be much more stable ,because you or only using one theme template and not two.

Yes, but doing this will mean that you won't be using any images optimsed for mobile, css, js etc.

In theory it would work, but would be an ugly 'hack'.

You'd be better off just making a seperate mobile theme and controllers to take advantage of how mobile/tablet devices work.

if you or using your same template, but on two diff setups ,and using two admins  you could add some code to your  template and css on your mobile part of your website, plus don't forget you would be shrinking your theme to run on your part of your mobile site to half or less the size of your main site ,so I cant really see it being a big problem ,the only problem would be is putting this together .Even though you well be using one DB you well be using two copies of oxwall ,so editing your theme on your mobile site wont affect your main theme . What you or saying is just the same really when you think about it ,if I make another template .I am going to make another theme but using the same theme has my main website.A mirror copy but to use for mobile,of my main website.I was thinking about searching for a mobile theme on the web and using the css code for my oxwall theme template ,with a bit of messing around with it ,I don't see why it would not work
