put a back up in and then follow the update procedure deactivate all plugins then switch to origin them then run update

also make sure you pay attention what you activate first and in what order.   Photo before any photo plugins, video before any video plugins, and forum before group,, you get the idea.. .

Also dont try to piece meal it and fix things as you go if you see some warnings or even some db issues, just get all the plugins activated and push on with the mission, then when your all done, clear your cache and then start looking for errors in debug... 

and once done revert all mail send files back to 1.7 or u get ur site mail banned

nope :) no backup , i fixed everything but the issue that when i try to edit using the javascript website editor it breaks

well, i've been able to fix most things, just one thing remains, when i click on the costumize this page i get an error 400 and it doesnt let me costumize , its been stuck like that for some time now :(

please enable debug mode again and click on customize this page button. Do you get any errors? If yes, please paste them here.

the easiest way to remove a plugin that crashes the site

say install or update plugin and get site wide e500

use ftp to delete the plugin from plugin folder

this gets the site working enough to go to admin plugins

click remove plugin takes you to confirm remove plugin

ftp the plugin back to plugin folder

then click the conferm remove plugin

it then removes it completely  

site back up and working

Thank you Ross, i got it to work last night, in the cache database there was a reference to the plugin too lol, it felt like brain surgery or searching for a neadle in a haystack :) but its working now
