A Clear Flaw in Admin design of owall | Forum

I can see the real issue with upgrades is a design flaw.

Plugins should be updated before being activated. This should be reflected in the plugin portion of the admin. Activating a 3rd party plugin and then updating it after a core update can cause a serious issues. This should be addressed in the next update and oxwall users should be advised to deactivate and install the latest versions of 3rd party plugins before hand.  Since this is not an option, it's better to un-install plugins from 3rd parties that have been updated is shown to require an update in the oxwall admin. Clearly many issues arose right after activating old plugins after core update 1.7.1.

It is clearly said in all instructions we have on the forum to deactivate all 3rd party plugins, please do the search before posting: http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/24133

I deactivated all plugins prior to update. I followed the instructions to the letter. The procedure is straight forward and I completed successfully in the past. I also due not rush to update allowing for 3rd plugin providers to catch up and for others oxwall uses so I can observe the results in the forums. It was during the re-activation of plugin, that requires updating, that the issue occurred. Particularly 3rd party plugins. This is the second time during a core update that I have had disastrous results due to the same scenario. It seems to me that I would have been bettor off uninstalling certain 3rd party plugins, then updating core, then re-installing the latest version of 3rd party plugins. In addition, after posting about it and attempting to message every team member, including the 3rd party plugin provider, I received no response for 12 hours. At which point I was compelled to request my host to perform restore for me. It is now 24 later and I'm still waiting the final OK from host that update is complete. At which point I will have to engage the entire process again since the issue for me is the malfunctioning groups. What makes it worse for me is the fact that I have developed a high profile with great traffic and have a number a prestigious companies looking to get involved with me. This put me in a tough spot. I didn't realize I could pay some one to perform the upgrade or I would have made some arrangement. Unfortunately, I'm spread so thin financially right now, I have to get through it this time on my own.

Once the restore is finished, I'm going to sit tight over the weekend. I'll check the difference in time zone and try to get in sync. I am Eastern standard time in the US on east coast.
