When we update to 1.7.2, should we apply the instructions in this post:

http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/24134

And now that is it officially released, what determines WHEN it will show up in my admin area? It hasn't shown up yet.

Yes, the same instrucitons apply to the updating to 1.7.2
If notifications have not appeared yet, make sure you cron job is properly configured.
Try to run cron manually: www.site.com/ow_cron/run.php

In this case, how much time is "some time"?

A week? two weeks? 3 months?

So what other site functions run on cron? Because my site seems to be functioning normally, everything basically works for the past 3 years, yet my cron has not been working?

Is the ONLY function of cron for checking for updates? If so, then my cron works, because it detects and notifies me of plugin auto updates. Yet it won't notify me of core update...

Please explain.....

See if you get platform update notification after this.

I had done that about 5 times a few days ago when you first suggested it. Nothing happened.

But woke up this morning to find the auto updates appearing in my admin now on BOTH of my Oxwall sites. This is days after trying the manual cron run.

But anyway, it's there now, strange as it may be.....it was like waking up on Christmas morning to find a big present under the tree! hahahaha!

Jobee, do the search on the forum, there are a lot of posts related to the cron problem, follow the instructions from the posts to check whether your cron is properly configured.
