Update to 1.7.2 occasional long loading site | Forum

After update i have this problem - occasional long loading of page (only for registred users).

Performance page after the update is the same as before, but sometimes i click and site is loading about 30 seconds and then it works again.

Site occasional "freeze" = is loading cca 30 seconds, but only for registered users, when this happens and i have site open in another browser and I not logged in, freezing does not occur.

I tried to gradually shut down plugins, but I did not come out if is to blame for some plugin.

It is difficult to test because most of the time page load correctly, and have no idea what causes.

Some ideas?

Jozef, in this case you need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to provide you with statistics what causes that delay. They should have such data.

I have VPS, please how and where can I find such statistics?

I don't know, I'm not a server expert. You need to google then to find this info.

But I do not know what the statistics you mean,...

Jozef it's query tracking, it is used to find out what part of the software causes (if it does) the loading problem

I suspect the delay comes from per each click the Chat/IM has to load all the Users, so when selected to Show all usrs,, it has to load them, so If you have lets say 1000+ users then you can imagine the CPU/Load and Memory this takes to render the list per click.

The use of an upper package VPS or Dedicated server "for me anyhow" resolved the issue.

Quote from Jozef I have VPS, please how and where can I find such statistics?

For you using VPS, "if your provider allows root access" then you would have the ability to view resources like memory and cpu %'s, open your SSH client, sign in, type in to the terminal as follows: top -c and you will be able to view your Apache servers health, Shrink your browser down so you can view it and the terminal window side by side as you navigate your site.

Once you discover exactly what is using what then you can can further/Google "Apache load distribution" or "Apache Load Balancing" to adjust your scripts performance.

A few small adjustments to consider till Oxwall writes a proper fix:

How many members on your site?
How often do you optimize the Db Tables at phpMyAdmin?
Have you considered at the IM to "Show only online users"?
How often do you restart Apache server?
Not often enough I see, I do mine weekly, your last was 3months ago.

Terminal command:
apachectl restart

(Nothing to do with per user load but certainly helps to take some stress off your server)
Have you adjusted the FcgidMaxRequestLen and FcgidMaxRequestInMem and if not find out what your default values are...

For safe keeping per example I have mine set as,,,
at: /etc/httpd/conf with in the httpd.conf
FcgidMaxRequestLen 2147483648
FcgidMaxRequestInMem 2147483648

"In case your wondering those values indicate 2G"

At File Manager/  I have
php.ini:
output_buffering = 4096
memory_limit = 2G

Keeping in mind after changes to restart your Apache.

These will be the least you can do for the time being...

1. cca 3750 users

2. cca one per week

3. it is not possible in last plugin version, (or am I wrong?)

4. you have right, not often

(Fcgi apache module is disabled) and if i activate it, I get the following error messages:

* Starting web server apache2 apache2: Syntax error on line 210 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/fcgid.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_fcgid.so into server: /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_fcgid.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Action 'start' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. ...fail!

(I admit that I am not a specialist in VPS)I need professional assistance and with my.cnf (performance tuning) and php.ini too, but need funds :)

but I changed php.ini according to your advice thank you :)

In /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
replace
LockFile ${APACHE_LOCK_DIR}/accept.lock
with this one
Mutex file:${APACHE_LOCK_DIR} default

If that doesn't work I'm afraid you will need to contact your support for further information.

Hi Ross, tonight I had a lot of visitors
now is performance (compared to version 1.7) much worse, I think it's a problem with mysql (CPU) specifically messages plugin probably.
How it looks with the update?

Jozef, we have your admin access details and I registered at your website as well. I don't see any freezing at all, the website is flying. No even delays in loading.
