Filetypes allowed in newsfeed? | Forum

When attempting to upload several different types of files to my newsfeed status I was greeted with a remark stating that certain filetypes were not allowed.  What filetypes are allowed in the newsfeed?  Can I alter the allowed filetypes?

Only these formats are allowed: 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'png', 'gif'

To change this is considered as a custom code modification. You're free to do that on your own or hire a programmer. You can do that here: http://www.oxwall.org/market/specialists

Also you can make a post in the custom code modification section of the forum, probably some community member will assist you with that.

Sorry for placing the post in the incorrect forum.  I would prefer to make the change myself.  I would also appreciate if someone could give me an idea which file I need to modify.

Thank you, sir.

Where am I able to upload files such as ZIP, DOC, PDF, etc.?  I've attempted to do so in the newsfeed as well as in the groups and neither allow this.  I have not tested the forums yet.  I have checked my configs as well as the MySQL database and from what I can see I should be able to upload these types of files.

If you're referring to the allowed extensions indicated here: www.site.com/admin/settings/user-input these are for forum attachments.

Ok.  I tested attaching a PDF in a forum.  The post registered.  I did not receive any kind of error, however I cannot find where the attachment went nor can I find anything that tells me it even exists with the post.

It allows me to attach images but no other type files?  What do I need to do to correct this?  My server at Active Webhosting does allow the filetypes I have attempted to attach.

Rev. Curt Guldenschuh
The only file in that folder is the image I attached.  The DOC and PDF are nowhere to be found.

This shows the image attachment...

I stand corrected.  I'm old and my brain has leaks.  My CGI server does not allow the DOC, PDF, etc., but does allow the image files.  My regular webspace does allow the DOC, PDF, etc.  I guess I need to find a way to redirect to my web rather than the CGI.  Please accept my humble apology.

Wait till you get my age and try to keep things from falling out of your brain and getting lost.
