Is there any way a plugin, like events for example can be "cloned"
There may be a need to have the same plugin labelled as 2 different things.
What work is involved in it? I know there will be issues with updates etc but is it possible?
Maybe even categorise it or add tags to it? Something that can be used to sort out the different events and be searchable?

Generally speaking: it is not possible. But, always can be done as a custom code modification. Not the easiest one indeed.

surely could it not be identical to the working one but change the install code to insert the NEW table and data and labels? Just a thought.

it would be possible but things like data tables and function names would need to be renamed to avoid clashes, you would have to go through every line of code
