I want to create a site where people can put up their career profile so need to be able to add things like Education, Skills, etc

Dean, Tammy is right, our profile system is based on the profile questions. So to add more information in user profile you just need to add new profile questions via Admin Area>Users>Profile Questions>Profile Questions tab.
