Tammy, did you make any changes within .htaccess file ? Please check whether there is such or similar line in the file: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/chat/ .
If you find this lines, you need to remove them.

thank you so much that worked i tryed deactivate all plugin and switch to default them i was just about to bite the bullet and uninstall message plugin
