can't log in after restore from back up[Solved] | Forum

I had to restore my site from a back up and all looked fine, but I cannot log in anymore now, I don't know about users, and my facebook connect plugi that worked fine now triggers a 404 not found
Not Found

The requested URL /facebook-connect/login was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The same error shows when I click on the password reset link.

Is there any file on my ftp that holds my user credentials as admin, I mean is there somwhere where I can find or reset my admin password in a file on the server? What files could hold errors after restore from backup - what do I have to edit if a migrate a site from a different server? Every help will be much apopreciated!!

Hello Hiedi,

Have you followed the backup/restoring instruction here, before making your backup?

If you changed your admin password after the backup then you have enter the old password; the password you use in your site before making backup...

Hi Durlabh,
thank you, that was the document I was looking for and couldn't find. I followed the instructions now, I changed the password salt to be the same as in the old installation and made the folders writeable. But the error still persists

Hi I just found reason. The .htaccess file was missing! I uploaded it from the backup file and now I was able to log in again. Thank you very much for taking the time to help!
