We have eight positions to fill, and probably five candidates standing for each position. The process should work like this;
Initial Setup:
- Set the "User Role" group that is allowed to oversea elections.
- Set the URL that users can be directed to in order to propose & second candidates as well as vote (such as example.com/election for example).
Election Setup:
- Set a name for this election (in the future, we will hold more elections).
- Input all the position titles that are being contested at this election.
- Set the number off seats available for that title (1 to unlimited).
- Set the date and time that nominations will commence.
- Set the date and time that nominations will conclude.
- Set the date and time that voting will commence.
- Set the date and time that voting will conclude.
- Set the date and time that results will be published.
- Input the names of other voting options (such as "None of the Above").
From the date & time selected to commence nominations:
- Allow users to propose a member for positions.
- Allow a user to second proposed members.
- Ask members that have been proposed and seconded if they are happy to stand.
- If a proposed and seconded member is happy to stand for a position, they should be added to the candidate list.
- Stop accepting nominations at the date and time selected.
At the date and time selected to start voting:
- Start accepting votes.
- accept one vote from each user for each position.
- Stop accepting votes at the selected time and date.
The rules are as follows;
- Members cannot propose or second themselves.
- Members can only propose one candidate for each seat
- Members can either propose OR second a member, not both.
- One user is only allowed one vote per election.
- Members are allowed to vote for themselves.
- Votes must be kept anonymous.
- If more then one election is scheduled to run at once, users must be able to select which election they wish to vote in.
- The results must only be available to those in the selected user role group until the selected date.
One of our positions has an unlimited number of seats, so nominations should continue to be accepted for it until the conclusion of the nomination period. Candidates for this position are therefore competing against "None of the Above" rather than each other.
Our elections start on 1st October 2015, so we will need to get a solution in place before then.
Thanks!
