Newsfeed Plugin giving me problems | Forum

Hi there... my sites css was taken away a few days ago (you'd go to my site and the design was gone except words and pics) and my css helper determined the newsfeed was somehow causing problems on my site.... he took it away...

He told me to download/ install the newest version from the store which I did.

On this version everything works EXCEPT when I go to settings and Uncheck "Enable status updates on index page".  ( I Don't want those statuses on my front page) I delete all status updates, retest and they still are going on index page newsfeed.

Everything else in the settings for that works automatically with my testing. I've uninstalled, reinstalled and the issues persists.

Do you mean that you see status are on the index page after deactivating it in the settings of the plugin?

Or do you see status updates? If the second, are you sure that user did not post it via their dashboard newsfeeds or profile newsfeed?

I see where you can type in text in the box that says "what's happening?" (I think that to my knowledge is a status/ status update) appearing on my index page after I have deactivated that from the settings of the plugin.

And again all other setting changes for the plugin work automatically when I do anything with them.

Ohe PS every time when I disable that checkbox from the admin newsfeed plugin settings, I do delete the statuses that showed on the index before to get a clean fresh slate .... and then I try/ test again.... but the new ones will still be put on index page. So I'm not seeing the ones from before, these are news ones that I test....

It's still doing this today after uninstalling and/or deactivating the plugin itself and trying again.

Michele, the status area should dissapear on index page. new statuses still can be made from dashboard newsfeed and profile newsfeed and appear on index newsfeed

if you still have the status area on index newsfeed after deactivating this option in the plugin settings, please tell us what software version and newsfeed version you have.

Disable all 3rd party plugins installed on your website and see if the issue persists.

deactivating all Third party plug ins and the issue persists.

I'm using 1.7.5.... and I believe the version of the newsfeed is 9112. (That's the last # of all the folder numbers in the update folder). It was the download the store now currently gives you.

Thought maybe it was an installation problem so I tried again today reinstalling/ overwriting the whole zip folder (and then extracting of course)... (and my records are showing I modified it just now) .... issue still persists.

Michele as you can see there's no status area on the index newsfeed

just like I said. from where did you make those status updates?

The issue is solved, Michele was posting status updates from dashboard page and they appear on index page newsfeed. However index page newsfeed did not have status area just like it should after deactivating the setting in the newsfeed plugin.

Yes so anyone who finds this thread and gets confused as I did the plugin settings that say Disable / or "Enable status updates on index page"

....do not refer to the status updates themselves, but the status area or box, where you type in what's going on...  like Ross said :)
