User Role permissions~ seems like pretty big oversight | Forum

Making my own thread- this honestly seems like something that was an oversight in coding.... I can't imagine oxwall would add a feature like this without any indication for users that their long typed out messages, will NEVER be read from certain user roles.

The Discrepancy-

If you click a certain user role and uncheck "Read Mails".  It works- they can't Read Mails. And we need this... we are going to have admins that aren't going to be using their PMs (instead users will have to use the appropriate contact / ticket links), and LA celebrities too that NEED a level of privacy.

Yet there's No Indication that the messages aren't being read.

You just create an environment where everyone is upset with the admins and celebs or other user roles, for not responding to their messages . .  as they have NO IDEA they're not BEING READ.  This could be so easily fixed --- Just if this box is unchecked take away the send private message button on these user roles.
Or at the very least some pop up box warning saying, this account doesn't get emails.

I hope you see where I'm coming from  :)

Hey again! :) Sorry if I was posting in the wrong forum. I just don't know how to have what's a Very LEGIT discrepancy be brought to the attention of whoever does oxwall coding...

Such a little thing ?- if you set it so certain user roles/ accounts "can't read mails", all I'm asking for is a warning to other users spending all their time writing those messages, that they *WILL Know their mails will never be read.*

This is not a preference or addon but something VERY Basic to how your system already operates. Ya know what software wouldn't issue a way to let other users know, at such a setting?
(as this is already programmed into user roles) So I'm hoping not to be told to find a developer.

I've been waiting patiently for someone at oxwall to notice the problem in how there's no warning :) yet thought I might bring it to your attention... so there might be a resolution in one of the updates. :)

On your donate page it says sponsor an hour of development time, I'd be willing to donate for this issue to be resolved.

Michele, thank you for your feedback on this issue. As you might know we have a list of essential features which should be implemented as soon as possible. That is why we don't provide custom code modification services and understandably it's quite difficult to process every single individual suggestion. But as I know, we are thinking about the improvements you have described. I will forward this suggestion to our development  team to remind about that.
But if this is an urgent task, it would be better to find a developer who can help you. You can do it here: http://www.oxwall.org/market/.
