Also, how do you only show topics or replies that were not created by that user?

On index, one can add a list of recent forum topics. How do you do that on the user dashboard?

James, this is considered as a custom code modification.
Here you can find similar topics, which were already discussed on Forum:

If these topics don't meet your needs, it would be better to create separate topic in the custom code modification forum , probably some community member already have a solution.

Again, I would have thought this would be part of the core of oxwall. Why would users not want to know what has been going on in the forum?

James, for now our Forum plugin is just a light version of any forum system and that is why there is no such functionality for default software. You can vote to increase amount of voices for this suggestion on our uservoice board: http://oxwall.uservoice.com/...-s-posts-and-new-pos.
