Hello there,

how can I adjust that users can register at least 18 years? I know that under profile fields I can set a specific year of birth. That´s not what I mean.

If I specify there 1997, for instance, most user are18 yearsin November. But people who were born in December are only 17 years old.

Also, I would change this field again
next year .
It would have to move every day one day.

Many thanks for your help

I don't know of any sites with an effective way of controlling that. This is the reason some require a credit card just to help with verification. All anyone would need to do is put in a different birth date, or year to gain access. Unless the person is standing in front of you, and can produce a valid id, you'll never know. The best you can do is use the splash screen with your disclaimer. If you do that, you have done your part in alerting visitors of the site content.

Look

Today we have November 27th

If I simply set date to 1997, all users for 27th are 18 years old BUT any users past 27th are  17 years old but they can register anyway.

Thats my problem

It should be depending on the day and not from the year.

Then you would be changing it every day, and still not keeping anyone to young out. All they need to do is put in a bogus birthday to fool the system.

I did not mean that! I do not care if someone gives a wrong date of birth! I'm looking for here for a technical solution and no smalltalk. Let it be. You do not understand it.

Short of hiring a developer to do a code modification; there are several free scripts on the web that will prompt a user to input a birthdate, and the script will calculate the age, and allow entry based on the minimum age that you set in the code. I tried one out a few months ago, and if the visitor answered the questions correctly, they went on to the sign in page, if not, it redirected them to the site set in the code. You would still have to changed the year in the Oxwall back end, but this will take care of the front end.

This is something VERY IMPORTANT

I don't understand why Oxwall has minimum/maximum year of birth and not minimum/maximum age like 99% of sites... It's very annoying - I have the same problem  :-/

You can make a suggestion on uservoice: http://oxwall.uservoice.com/forums/13756-ideas-for-oxwall

In the meantime this is considered as a custom code modification, you need to do that on your own or hire  a programmer. You can do that here: http://www.oxwall.org/market/specialists
