Over the weekend, we finally tried to upgrade our site to 1.8.1 (from 1.8.0) since we think we figured out how to re-implement the custom code modification I had done. The automatic update from the admin panel area failed, leading to 500 errors. We were following the instructions in this post: http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/24134
Because of backing up beforehand, we were able to restore the site. Then we tried two more times, with the same result.
Anyway, I have noticed that in the admin area, it still shows the upgrade notification, but when you click it, it says "Upgrade from 1.8.1 to 1.8.1." Is this a problem?? What has happened? Are we stuck in the middle or something? Any advice for either going completely backward to 1.8.0 or completing going forward to 1.8.1? (Ultimately, I would like to be at 1.8.1.)
The only difference I have noticed since the failed attempt is that existing forum topic replies don't post to the newsfeed anymore despite the setting being checked for that. All else looks like it is functioning normally.
