Hi

May I ask whether it is possible to have several sites (for different clubs) as sub domains of a main domain? I mean, for example:

club1.myclubs.com

club2.myclubs.com

As you seen here there is only one main site (myclubs.com) but it includes two different Oxwall sites each for a distinct community (club1 and club2). This way, if possible, we can only have one single domain to serve two different communities.

Thanks very  much.

Thanks very much.

What do you mean by single doamin for two different communities? Please elaborate your request. You said you wanted two different subdomain and then you want one single domain

Hi Ross,

Sorry, for not precisely specifying my question.

Suppose for example, you want to have two Oxwall social networks, one for a football club and the other for a volleyball club. So there are two different communities. However, you have one domain, say www.sportsXYZ.com, and for some reason you want the football club to use football.sportsXYZ.com and the volleyball club to use volleyball.sportsXYZ.com urls to access their social networks.

Thanks very much.

Yes, of course you can do that, install Oxwall in the subdirectory then try the solutions provided here to rewrite your subdomain: http://stackoverflow.com/...bdomain-to-directory

Great! Thanks very much Ross. Would you recommend that? I mean is there any inefficiency so I should avoid it?

Thanks.

Ross,

Then, when installing Oxwall for, say, the football community, do I need to change the parameter 'OW_URL_HOME' in config.php to http://football.sportsXYZ.com or to https://www.sportsXYZ.com? Do I need to make any other changes in the config.php?

Thanks.

you need to install Oxwall in the subdirectory of sportsXYZ.com called football. In config.php you should indicate http//:sportsXYZ.com/football, if you have ssl certificate installed then https:

then try the solutions from the posts from stackoverflow I gave you. http://stackoverflow.com/...bdomain-to-directory in order to change your url from http://sportsXYZ.com/football to http://football.sportsXYZ.com

Thanks very much. One last question: where shall I put the htaccess file, in the football directory or in public_html? Thanks.

Every oxwall installation has it's own .htaccess default file which is in the root of the software, it should stay there.
