After installing 2 plugins  (since you need both to do anything useful, why don't you bundle them?) this is pretty annoying.

How can I get this workflow (or can I?)

1. User registers (Join)

2. During signup, they are offered a choice of Free or Various Membership plans

Even better would be an option to make a landing page for those who click 'Join' to see the plans and comparisons and be able to select.
