Is there any way to prevent free members from communicating?

I don't see the User Roles being used but the Friends plugin is used.

On my website it doesn't matter if they are friends or not to communicate with each other but if they don't pay, I don't let them send private messages.

The rest of the plugin is phenomenal, I like it a lot.
