The business has compiled a list of iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch apps and games that will help us get through 2020.

Apple announced its App Store Best of 2020 selections this week, which are the best apps and games chosen by editors each year. The apps and games that helped make life easier, healthier, and more connected during a year unlike any other in recent history are featured this year.

Through a statement, Apple Fellow Phil Schiller stated, "This year, more than ever before, some of our most creative and connected moments happened in apps." "We saw incredible efforts from so many developers around the world, and these Best of 2020 winners are 15 outstanding examples of that innovation; their impact was meaningful to so many of us, from helping us stay fit and mindful to keeping our children's education on track to helping fight hunger."

Wakeout! is the best iPhone app of the year.

Which tailors 30-second bursts of movement and exercise to your home, business, automobile, or local park To avoid being overly sedentary now that many of us are spending more time at home, use everything from cushions to pots and pans to outdoor seats to your workstation. Filter by mood (energizing, calming, intense, or fun) and length in the library of over 1,000 location-specific exercises. Wakeout! is available for download and trial for one week, after which you must pay for $5 per month or $35 per year. For no extra charge, you can add up to five persons to your subscription.

Zoom was named Apple's iPad app of the year, which isn't surprising given that the video chat platform grew from 10 million daily meeting participants in December to more than 300 million in April, making it one of the most popular ways to connect with friends, family, and coworkers during the pandemic (check out our tips for using Zoom here).

Disney Plus was chosen the Apple TV app of the year by Apple, owing to its repertoire of family-friendly episodes and movies, the addition of a GroupWatch function, and, I'm sure, the fact that season 2 of The Mandalorian will bring us more Baby Yoda.

Apple editors' picks for the top games of the year include Genshin Impact for iPhone, Legends of Runeterra for iPad, Disco Elysium for Mac, Dandara Trials of Fear for Apple TV, and Sneaky Sasquatch for Apple Arcade.

Fantastical, the Mac software of the year, attempts to simplify your life by bringing all of your calendars and notifications together in one spot. Endel, the Apple Watch app of the year, syncs with Apple Health to customize soundscapes to your present condition and immediate area, using characteristics such as your heart rate and the current weather to provide you with a calming sound.

Apple also bestowed the Best of 2020 award on five apps for their contributions to society during this exceptional year.

Caribu is an interactive video chat program that allows grandparents and relatives who are unable to see the children in their lives in person to stay connected by reading books, playing games, and coloring together electronically. Pokemon Go reimagined its famous outdoor gaming with new at-home activities, such as a virtual GO Fest in July, where millions of players walked an average of 15 kilometers (nearly nine miles) over the course of a weekend.

The Explain Everything digital whiteboard app provided a cloud-based collaboration tool for students whose classrooms were transferred to their homes, allowing groups of students to continue working together remotely. With over 87 million meals provided to far, the UN World Food Programme's ShareTheMeal app made it simple for anyone to donate to provide food aid during emergencies around the world. In addition, the Shine app for daily self-care has added a new section dedicated to mental health and Black lives.

2020's most popular apps

Apple also announced the most downloaded apps and games for iPhone and iPad, both free and premium, in addition to the App Store editorial picks.

Zoom was the most popular free software on both the iPhone and iPad. TikTok and Disney Plus for iPhone, and Disney Plus and YouTube for iPad, came next.

TouchRetouch, Procreate Pocket, and Dark Sky Weather were the top paid iPhone apps, while Procreate, Geometry Dash, and Notability were the top paid iPad apps.

The most popular free game on the iPhone and iPad was Among Us, while Minecraft was the most popular premium game on both platforms.
