We used to live in a small duplex with birds in our living room, where everything was happening. But in July, we moved into a beautiful two-story house. Now, our birds have their own bedroom, away from all the activity in the house.
Lately, I've found it challenging to remember to take care of the birds. They have a lovely bedroom with a big window, but there's a carpet, so I keep them in a cage inside their spacious flight cage. Both my husband and I work full-time outside the house, and with all the housework and taking care of our two cats and a dog, it's easy for us to forget to change their food and water and spend time with them.
Does anyone else have a similar situation where their birds are in a separate room after being in the center of the house?
I've always wanted a peaceful bedroom for them, and now that they have it, they're no longer part of the household action! Sometimes, on weekends, I only go upstairs once a day because all the bedrooms are up there. The rest of the time, I'm downstairs in the living room with our other pets. It's a bit sad, but we can't move them downstairs – their cage is too big, and we don't want their mess in the kitchen where we prepare our food.
