Solution 1: Manually Adjusting the Settings by Renaming the.ND and.TLG Files

Although these filenames and extensions may sound unfamiliar to you, they are actually a component of your QuickBooks files. They include the setup and parameters required to open the corporate file in a shared environment.

You may always expect similar errors to appear when these files become corrupt, but you can always rename them. Your data won't be lost because of this. In fact, when you utilise the QuickBooks Database server manager to rescan and when you open your company file, these files will be regenerated.

  • Go to the folder where your company file is located.

  • Look for files with the same name as company files but different extensions.

  • .TLG and ND. The file should have the following name: qbw.nd company file.qbw.tlg

  • Rename each file by using the right-click menu. After each file name, add the term OLD. An illustration like the one below would serve as one. Keep in mind that as long as you modify the file's name, adding the term old is not strictly necessary.

  • qbw.nd.OLD

  • Try reopening QuickBooks and attempting to log into your company file. If the problem persists, continue to the solutions below.

If you apply these fixes in the correct order, step-by-step, QuickBooks Error Code 6123 will be totally eliminated. Call our QB Professionals Team at +1.855.738.0359 for more technical assistance.

QuickBooks error code 6123-0 typically occurs when you try to open or restore a company file. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this error:

Run the QuickBooks File Doctor: QuickBooks provides a built-in tool called QuickBooks File Doctor that can automatically diagnose and fix common company file errors. Download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor from the official Intuit website to see if it can resolve the error.

Update QuickBooks: Ensure that you have the latest version of QuickBooks installed on your computer. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to compatibility issues and errors. Update QuickBooks to the latest release by going to the "Help" menu and selecting "Update QuickBooks Desktop."

Disable antivirus or security software: Temporarily disable any antivirus or security software running on your computer. Sometimes, these programs can interfere with QuickBooks operations, including opening or restoring company files. If disabling the antivirus software resolves the issue, you may need to add QuickBooks as an exception or configure the antivirus settings accordingly.

Rename the company file: Try renaming the company file to resolve any potential issues with the file name. Follow these steps:

a. Close QuickBooks if it's open.

b. Locate the company file with the .QBW extension.

c. Right-click on the company file and select "Rename."

d. Add ".old" at the end of the file name (e.g., CompanyFile.QBW becomes CompanyFile.QBW.old).

e. Save the changes and try opening or restoring the file again.

Move the company file to a different location: Copy the company file to a different folder or location on your computer and try opening or restoring it from there. Sometimes, the original file location can have permissions or other issues that prevent QuickBooks from accessing it.

Use the QuickBooks Refresher tool: Intuit provides a QuickBooks Refresher tool that can help resolve common issues related to QuickBooks program components. Download and run the QuickBooks Refresher tool from the official Intuit website to see if it can fix the error.

Restore a backup of the company file: If you have a recent backup of the company file, try restoring it instead of opening the original file. This can help bypass any file corruption or issues that may be causing the error.
