I'm sorry if this has been addressed before. I searched but didn't find any similar problem.

While testing the video feature, after I click on "Add" button, I get this error message:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /(...)/video/add/index/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The problem is that I cannot find that folder (or that path, for the matter) on my server, all folders begin with "ow_". I even manually created the folders, with 777 permission, but I keep getting that same error message.

Did I miss something?

err.. never mind!... :)

I have just found thread http://www.oxwall.org/forum/topic/1858 and there they mention that this kind of error is caused by settings on the server. And that WE cannot fix that, we have to contact the hosting providers.

I have just done that and they confirmed it's for them to fix, not me. Hope it'll be fixed soon. Thanks!

I'll leave this thread here just in case others come across the same problem.

Update:

Ok, they managed to fix it and now it's possible to insert videos.

BUT... the only way to INSERT a video is by inserting the embedded code, something like:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ACkmg3Y64_s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now, isn't there a way to do the same thing just by inserting the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACkmg3Y64_s

As it's done on Facebook and blogger?

I tried, and all I got is that "Forbidden" message again. This time I suspect it's the software, not the server problem...

Evelyne,  using links instead of embed code won't work with "Video" plugin.

You can insert links to videos in newsfeed though, and they will be displayed with a thumbnail and short description like on FB. But once user click on them they will be redirected to, for example, youtube.com.

Watching videos on your site is only possible if embed code was used.

Hi Alila,

Thanks for helping!

Yeah, I kinda figured that out... :)

But my question is: would it be possible for you guys to change the code (maybe for next updates/versions) in such a way that if the user places only the link, the software would complete it with the full embedded code? I mean, they are standardized, aren't they? Or would that be too complicated?

I don't know, it was just an idea, to make users' lives easier. Not everybody knows where to get the code, you know...

Just wondering... :)

Evelyne, it is possible to convert youtube URLs to embed video code ( example: http://stackoverflow.com/...-using-jquery-on-pag).

We accept suggestion to next update at UserVoice . Would be great if you submit yours there as well. Thank you.

Thank you Aliia!

Would that code work for Oxwall 'as is'? Where (which file) would I insert it?

I checked the Uservoice (and registered). This suggestion is there already, so I voted for it and added a comment. Great way to give us a 'voice'! :)

Evelyne, I didn't try myself so can not tell for sure. This needs to be tested and detailed instructions can not be given as part of the Oxwall support services.

Thanks for voting. Hopefully this feature will be included.
