Can I set up so people join as a "group" rather than as individuals? | Forum

To be clear, we are looking at setting up a online community for use by certain small voluntary organisations, the organisation joins and invites individuals (in all probability the individuals who are involved with that organisation) to join the community via that "group" rather than individuals signing up and then joining the "group". Social Cast sort of does it but only for one organisation, we are wanting organisations to interact, well the individuals within them. The problem is, as ever, politics and "fear" in as much that the organisations, in order to make use of the service and given their nature of operation feel more comfortable if they can sign up as the org and then email invite individuals rather than a free for all signup process.

So, can Oxwall be configured in such a way easily or is it going to be a hack and slash through loads of code?

You could try to create a new Member type and during registration they can select their type as Group.
