Is it worth the extra $10?
With Diablo 4 coming out in May 2023, you might be wondering which edition is best for you: especially since the Ultimate Edition is a bit vague about exactly what it's about. Thankfully, we were able to figure out what exactly the most expensive edition of the game has, and answer a question you might have. Should you buy the Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition?
Is content from other editions included in Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition?
In short, everything from the standard and deluxe editions is included in this version of the game. You will of course get a copy of the game with all versions included. Deluxe Edition extra content includes a mount and a set of decorative mount armor. You'll also get four days early access to the game; meaning you can start playing the game on June 1 or June 2, depending on where you are. You'll also get some Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and Diablo Immortal bonus items whenever you buy any edition of the game. If you pre-order, you'll get a Diablo 4 mount and mount armor decoration. You can also buy diablo 4 items and gold if you need them.
Finally, you'll unlock the premium Seasonal Battle Pass. Each season will feature a free and premium track that will unlock cosmetic rewards as you progress through the pass. With this unlock, you'll be able to activate premium tracks instead of paying $10 to unlock it.
What's exclusive to Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition?
If you choose to get the Ultimate Edition of the game, there are basically two exclusive items. First up is the Creator Wings emote. When you use this emote in-game, your character will gain bright angel Tyrael-like wings and slowly float through the air. It's a really cool look, definitely the best looking look we've ever seen. Then again, we probably haven't seen most of the emotes you can earn in-game through game progression or the battle pass.
You'll also get an accelerated unlock of the battle pass, which will skip the 20 tiers of the battle pass from the start. The accelerated unlock itself costs $25.
Everything in Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition
So let's sum up everything you'll get if you pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game.
Lightbearer Mount (pre-order bonus item)
Caparison of Faith Mount Armor (pre-order bonus item)
Four-day early access to Diablo IV (pre-order bonus item)
Diablo 3 Inarius Wings and Inarius Murloc Pet
world of warcraft furious mounts
Diablo Immortal Amber Winged Darkness Cosmetic Set
temptation mount
Hellborn Carapace Mount Armor
Accelerated Seasonal Battle Pass Unlocks (Level 20 Jumps and Decorations for Premium Battle Passes)
Creator Wings Emoticon
So should you buy Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition?
Unless you think the Creator Wings emote alone is worth $10, it's hard to recommend this. Speeding up the battle pass and skipping the first 20 tiers is killing gameplay, if anything, in my opinion. However, it has been confirmed that the battle pass will take approximately 80 hours to fully complete. If you're not going to put 80 hours into the game, you probably won't even consider the Ultimate Edition. That being said, until we know exactly how the battle pass is going, the argument can be made that skipping 20 tiers might be more worthwhile if you can skip some of the more mundane tasks required to complete the pass.
