Will factory reseting my iPhone 4 on iOS 5 activation lock it? | Forum

My dad recently gave me his old iPhone 4 on iOS 5. However, it still has his contacts and stuff on it. I thought about factory reseting it, but I decided not to because in case of an activation lock. Also where I am 3G is no longer supported. If anyone could please tell me if it will activation lock it or not that would be great. Thanks.
