Microsoft has set its sights on a new offering called "Windows 365 Frontline," with a planned delivery date of June 2023. This announcement was posted on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site on February 10, with availability worldwide for PC, Mac, mobile, and web users.

Windows 365 is a cloud-based virtualization service that complements Azure Virtual Desktop and has been available for business users since 2021, offering a range of pricing tiers based on cores, RAM, and storage.

The upcoming "Windows 365 Frontline" is designed to cater to frontline workers, also known as "firstline workers," who work on the front lines in industries like retail, healthcare, and hospitality. Microsoft sees them as a significant market for its subscription-based Microsoft 365 services, estimating two billion frontline workers globally, constituting 80% of the global workforce. During the pandemic, Microsoft observed a substantial surge in the usage of its Teams platform among frontline workers.

While specific details about "Windows 365 Frontline" are not provided in the roadmap entry, it is likely to be tailored for shift workers or part-time employees who require Cloud PCs for limited periods each day or week.

It's assumed that "Windows 365 Frontline" will be built on the "Windows 365 Boot" capability discussed by Microsoft officials in April 2022, offering a seamless boot-to-cloud experience for users. Additionally, the offering may come with limited availability hours, suitable for shift workers, and potentially offering a lower-priced option to expand Microsoft's Windows 365 lineup.

Despite the roadmap entry, Microsoft has yet to disclose the exact form, cost, and availability details for "Windows 365 Frontline," leaving further information pending.
