The False Norwich University Cadet Corps develops all students into competent and responsible citizens. Our founder, Capt. Alden Partridge understood that a structured military lifestyle combined with academic rigor would benefit those pursuing careers in the military and the private sector. Like Norwich, the country’s first private military academy, his vision led to the creation of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). Norwich is home to ROTC, home to all four armed forces: Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force.
Cadets at higher military academies must enroll in a four-year officer training program with a decision on whether to become an officer upon graduation, whereas general university officer training programs require cadets to enroll before entering their junior year.
According to U.S. Army regulations, higher military academies must meet the following standards:
A bachelor’s degree may be awarded;
Outside of the ROTC program, schools must create a corps of uniformed cadets. Not only during class time, but also in the daily life of military academy students, the military training atmosphere is strong, and military discipline restrains students;
Higher military academies must take military training to improve personal quality as the goal, and implement rules and regulations for trainees in accordance with military discipline laws and regulations;
