Hello I’ve some general questions about double wound synchronous machine. I would like to know why a “dual stator winding” synchronous machine is used in some applications like mills and generators. What are the main advantages (and disadvantages) to use these stator needle winding machine? What about the phase shift between each stator wound? Are there any difference in the implementation of vector control between this machine and a “normal” synchronous machine (single wound)?
