So there's metal and Carbohydrate Foam in this.
I built the future Step kids Some "Banks" for Christmas this year.

The little Pirate Chest is just some Tong and groove pine board. The Bands are 16ga (.060") mild steels (cnc plasma cut)

The Stagecoach box is a 10Ga (.120") mild steel Frame (CNC Plasma cut) and 16ga (.060") mild steel Inter box.

The Steel was treated with Caswell Black Oxide. then covered with Flood Pentrol. Rubbed on and wiped off.

The Striped Box is 1/4 sawn white oak with a Purple heart /Paduka Stripe.

All the boxes were felt lined (mostly to protect little hands from my crap welds! and to look nice.

Now That those projects are done I can try and focus on the pile of patterns that are building up around my 3d Printer.

Wow, your Christmas 2020 projects sounded absolutely amazing! Working with both metal and wood, that's some serious craftsmanship you've got there.

Your stepkids are surely lucky to have such unique and thoughtful gifts. Banks that are shaped like pirate chests and stagecoaches are not something you come across every day!
Since the thread is a couple of years old, you might have refined your techniques and maybe even expanded into different types of projects. Have you ever considered creating a custom tapestry? You could take some of your favorite metal or wood designs, perhaps even a CNC plasma cut design, and have them imprinted on a tapestry. It's a great way to capture your work in a different medium. Plus, they make for excellent gifts or personal keepsakes.
