It should work from the root but doesn't!

Seriously, it isn't rocket science! I've had no problem in having my favicon.ico(s) displayed on all my sites except for Oxwall?

@ Greg, try using different browser. I prefer Firefox when editing/updating my Oxwall site. Chrome sometimes does not work. I also suggest to empty your browser's cache if you not do it yet. Adding favicon works fine using the suggestion of Damien.
