I know that may be a stupid question, but is there any startup database with users?
I think that it's pretty hard to be successful with a social website without having users.

I think your best shot at this is to register manually other users. Yes, it would be hard to attract customers unless you will be able to provide something new. Let us admit it, facebook is a tough act to follow. Though they are not immortal, they will leave a mark. You can also populate your database with information but that would not really be ethical if you ask me.
