Step 1: Locate the Backup File

Open QuickBooks Desktop:

Launch QuickBooks Desktop on your computer.

Go to "File" Menu:

In QuickBooks, go to the "File" menu.

Select "Open or Restore Company":

Choose "Open or Restore Company" from the options.

Choose "Restore a Backup Copy":

Select "Restore a Backup Copy" and click "Next."

Step 2: Select Backup File

Locate the Backup File:

Browse to the location where you have saved your backup file. This could be a local drive, external drive, or a network location.

Select Backup File:

Highlight the backup file (with a .QBB extension) you want to restore.

Click "Open" or "Next":

Click "Open" or "Next" to proceed.

Step 3: Choose Location to Restore

Choose Location:

Select the location where you want to restore the backup. You can either use the default location or choose a different folder.

Click "Save":

Click "Save" to start the restoration process.

Step 4: Confirm Restore

Review Information:

Review the information in the window to ensure you're restoring the correct file to the correct location.

Click "Yes" or "OK":

Click "Yes" or "OK" to confirm and start the restoration process.

Step 5: Wait for Restoration

Wait for Completion:

QuickBooks will start restoring the backup. The time it takes depends on the size of your company file.

Follow Any Additional Prompts:

Follow any additional prompts that may appear during the restoration process.

Step 6: Open the Restored Company File

Complete the Process:

Once the restoration is complete, you will receive a message indicating success.

Open the Restored Company File:

Close the restoration window and open the company file you just restored to verify that everything is as expected.
