Hi there. I just wanted to say I am absolutely new to Oxwall as well as new to being a website designer. I have read through all of Oxwall's documentation and I've tried to search forums and google to find my answers. I thought it would be really helpful to people if there was an easy checklist or "to-do" list to make sure people have everything they need to start their own community site. Is there a list somewhere out there? Shouldn't we start one for the future oxwall- installers and for ourselves?
Being new to all this has left me quite confused and frustrated at times. I just had wish there was an easy to understand list of things I needed to do so I could get crackin' right away and not have to wonder if I did something wrong from the start.
Here is what I have understood that I need in order to start my own successfully running oxwall community site:
-Have CAPTCHA
-Have Oxwall Attribution (http://www.oxwall.org/attribution)
-Cron Configuration (http://docs.oxwall.org/install:cron)
-Software optimization: CDN (recommended)
-Know that the "Oxwall" name usage cannot be in top-level domains (http://www.oxwall.org/domain-policy)
-Remember to do a Core Update, backing up website before every update
-Recommended Server Optmizations: Nginx and eAccelerator (http://nginx.org/ , http://eaccelerator.net/ , http://docs.oxwall.org/userguide:performance:optimization)
Other:
-Security?
-Manage SSH
-Mass Mail Setup
-FTP Accounts and email accounts
-Your choice of Plugins /Updates for these Plugins if applicable
-Your Theme or Custom theme
Is there anything that this newbie is missing? I really do appreciate any and all info from you guys :) Thank you!
