I'm getting the same person everyday making new accounts and spamming payday loan stuff on my groups page. I have watchdog and some other spam checker. I keep having to suspend the accounts and a few IP's. But it's useless.
How can I stop this?

I had the exact same problem, only thing i could do was switch my site to manual approval.
Spamer have got from 15 - 30 a day down to only 2.
It a pain as members have to wait for me to approve them but it's better than the never ending battle of deleting their crap from the site. what i don't understand is how they knew i had switched the manual approval mode on if the spammers are supposed to be bots.

I believe in my case and maybe yours some are real people. Because of the captcha on signup. Bots can't read that. I have many different websites and this is the worst I've seen. If there was a way to put new members to a first post (groups, links etc.) or 2 posts rule to be verified (like on phpbb) before showing up then that will stop it. Then after their first or second approval then they don't have to wait for their additions to be verified.

Anti Spammer is the best plugin, I also use CloudFlare, and SpamBlitz. They have helped me out a lot. Also adding a stupid question Like. Are you a spammer yes or no. If yes We'll report your email and IP address to the provider. All the above have stopped 99% of my spammers...

The developer had some issues with a few members that didn't seem to like what he was doing. So He took all his free stuff down. Hope he puts them back up soon. He is a great guy.
