Hi i am a little confused as to why when members register they automatically get a verification email but the page also tells them to click send which means they get two verification emails! Can we turn this click send bit off or not?

Kieron is right. Plus, in case user uses incorrect email he might need this form to resend verifications to the correct email.

It is possible, but requires custom code modifications.
