Has any body has a Johnson 730 crappie spin fishing reel.
It appears to be modern way before its time.
It was made in the 70s.
I traded installing a light switch for 20 something old fishing rods and reels. Some old some not.
This one does not have a button. It appears that you touch it before you cast. See pic.
It's not working correctly. But I did hear it click and it released once.
I'm going to take it apart, clean and oil it.

Nearly all my fishing is lake fishing from a boat. Took my FIL out fishing a long time ago, and using my Diawa

I’ve got a similar old reel story! I picked up an old spinning reel in a trade, and it had some quirks too. It didn’t have a button, just a unique touch mechanism. After a good clean and some oil, it worked much better. It’s amazing how these vintage reels can be ahead of their time. I also found some useful tips on FiskFrisk for the best fishing spots near me. Sometimes, finding the right spot makes all the difference, especially with vintage gear.
